Wagering Requirements at Crowns

Every bonus has a lock, and the wagering requirement is it. Also called turnover, rollover or playthrough, it is the total amount you must bet before bonus balance, and whatever it wins, can be withdrawn. Crowns promotions state their own multiples in each offer, and we have not verified those figures, so the examples below are hypothetical. Their purpose is a single skill: turning any requirement into dollars, riel and, above all, hours, before you accept it.

How wagering works

When a bonus is credited, a turnover target is attached to it. The target is a multiple of a base, which is either the bonus alone or the deposit plus the bonus. Every eligible bet you place reduces the target by its stake multiplied by the game's contribution rate, regardless of whether the bet wins or loses. When the counter reaches zero, the lock lifts and the remaining balance becomes withdrawable. If the balance runs out first, the bonus simply ends. Two numbers therefore matter at every moment: what is left to wager, and how much each bet actually counts.

Converting a requirement into time

The formula is short: the bonus multiplied by the requirement gives the total stake; divided by your stake per spin it gives the number of spins; divided by your pace it gives minutes. The table uses a hypothetical 30 times requirement on the bonus only, a 50-cent stake and about ten spins a minute.

BonusTotal bets requiredSpins at $0.50Time at 10 spins a minute
$10 (about 41,000 riel)$300600About 1 hour
$20 (about 82,000 riel)$6001,200About 2 hours
$50 (about 205,000 riel)$1,5003,000About 5 hours

Read the last column first. If five hours of play is more than you would spend on the casino in a normal week, a $50 bonus with those terms reorganises your week around itself. Riel figures use the informal rate of roughly 4,100 riel to the dollar and are rounded.

Game contribution

Not every bet counts in full. Slots often contribute 100%, while table games, live dealer games and some low-risk bets may count at 10% or 20%, or not at all. A game that contributes 10% makes the same requirement ten times longer: in the table above, the one-hour case becomes ten hours. Contribution tables sit in the bonus terms, and they are worth reading before choosing where to play the requirement off.

Time limit and maximum bet

Requirements come with a time limit, often a matter of days for welcome and spin offers. When the deadline approaches with a large balance still to wager, the obvious temptation is to raise the stake and finish faster. That runs straight into the maximum-bet rule, which caps each stake while a bonus is active and can void the whole offer if broken, and it runs into your own limits too. Bigger bets to beat a clock are the textbook way a session drifts out of control. The calmer choice is to let the bonus expire or to cancel it.

Mistakes that void a bonus

Requirement versus rebate

"Turnover" appears in two places with opposite meanings. As a requirement it is an obligation, the stake total you owe before a bonus unlocks. As a rebate it is a small share of your stakes returned to you. Both are computed from the same betting volume, which is why they can feel like they cancel out; in practice, a rebate refunds a sliver of the cost of a requirement and never the cost of the losses along the way.

Bonus wagering explained step by step

Playthrough is the total you must stake before bonus money becomes withdrawable: the casino multiplies the bonus, or bonus plus deposit, by a set factor and tracks your progress automatically. That is bonus wagering explained in one sentence, and rollover is simply another name for the same thing.

Wagering requirements interact with game contribution, so a slot and a card table move the counter at different speeds. Keep an eye on the deadline as well: unfinished playthrough and the bonus expire together, and the winnings locked behind them go with it.
